We all love a Merbau, Spotted Gum or Balau deck but the only problem is, the leaching of tannins (a reddish-brown dye bleeding from the timber when it is wet).

I am here to tell you that tannins are normal, but how do we as builders prevent it?

We leave it alone to weather for the duration of the build as the level of runoff will reduce over time.  Before the handover, a quick clean using deck cleaner together with a few coats of Cutek CD50 penetrating sealer will eliminate any further tannin bleed.
